I’d like to think I found Ikigai but yet I am incredibly dissatisfied. I believe it’s because of the problem I am trying to solve. It’s so big!! I wonder if scope influences Ikigai in some way.

That's a great question. It would make sense that it would. If you're not feeling like you're making an headway towards your mission in life, that could certainly influence how passionate you are about that thing.

What I find most interesting about Ikigai is that all four aspects operate on a spectrum, not just yes/no, so there’s so much space for interpretation on how skilled you need to be. Expert? Natural? Capable?

The desire, though, feels non-negotiable.

Thought provoking take-aways Michael thank you. I particularly like "when you say yes to one thing, you are inherently saying no to something else. When you say no, you make room for more hell yes." I will try and remember this throughout my day!

I've found that the outside variables that influence the viability of Ikigai (time, job search, etc) are important. I've kept ikigai as the goal and try to get as close to it as possible, whether that is with the latest yet-to-be-formed Substack idea, networking reach-out, or closed-eyes "let's conjure up some good vibes" session.
