This article couldn't have come at a more opportune time. I am in the midst of making several decisions that are all focused around removing friction, though I didn't have a good way of phrasing that in my mind.
Just having that term is already helping me hone down my target and I think will help the rest of the decisions in the coming weeks.
Your comment on labels is spot on. My default title in the working world has been art teacher. But I also make art, I research art, I take classes I even read novels about art. Yet I sort of feel uncomfortable saying I’m an artist. I am completely comfortable saying I’m a creative person. I enjoy communicating with other creatives in the arts.
I'm glad to at least have a go-to title I can use in polite conversation (teacher), but it does feel inadequate at times. It's nice to know I'm not alone here.
